ABOUT VICTORIA

Personal Trainer Victoria Wickins

Modern life has changed the way in which we move, introducing easy options for a more sedentary lifestyle.

My mission, quite simply, is to remind you what your body was created to do……Move!!

As a qualified Level 3 fitness instructor and Personal Trainer, I have been teaching a range of fitness and strength classes both online and in-person over the last 6 years.

I am passionate about seeing people come to a place of real health, fitness, mobility and strength. I love focusing on functional movement so you future proof your body.

My journey started through a love of modern dance at university and this then expanded into strength work in the gym. Two decades later after having my three gorgeous children, I found I had gotten to a place of feeling sluggish and unmotivated. I was often exhausted, and struggled to see how I was going to fit everything into each day. A good friend encouraged me to take on a fitness programme he was involved in and the flame for fitness was rapidly rekindled. It totally changed my point of view – I realised that being strong, healthy and fit is for EVERYONE, all the time. I felt like if I could turn it around, anyone could. It just helps to have a little encouragement and a passionate coach.

I have recently qualified as a postural alignment specialist and found this has added a new dimension to the way I train.

I am also trained in holistic massage combining elements of Sports, Swedish, and Deep Tissue massage, giving a well-rounded experience that relaxes and works the muscles of the body.

Let’s move! Let’s learn 👊💥👊
Love it ❤️
@daisyandnathan and I had an amazing workshop in functional training, core work, mobility, and strength work today with @greg_perlaki worth every minute. Got so so many knowledge gains 👊👊👊 SO EXCITING! Watch how we start to being this into training clients 👊🔥👊
Thank you @vivobarefoot

It was getting to the point where I considered doing the school run barefoot!! But Hurrah!!! Finally got my first pair of vivobarefoot shoes, but I have a sneaky suspicion that that this will be the first of many. They are LUSH ❤️
To be shod or not to be shod…..that is the question?!?!

It is worth considering if we have become a little over-shod! Squeezing our feet into shoes since being little babes. I’m not convinced this is the way to go anymore. Your feet tell a story of the shoes you have been wearing. Check out my horrid feet!! That says it all! Squeezing into high heels nearly everyday of my young adult life. One word…..bunions!!

I have recently been trying my training workouts without shoes - NO SHOES - and after a couple of weeks I am already seeing the benefits of increased foot strength! It’s crazy! In fact, I’d go so far as to say I am loving it so much that I’ll take any opportunity to kick off my shoes. I’m going shoe free as often as I can! It’s awesome.

But hang on, what happens on this mud island of ours (here in the UK) with all the rain and cold? What do we do when we go to work or when we are doing the school run or going to the shops, driving a car or going for a run? What then? I say, find some barefoot shoes you like and let the change in your stability, mobility and strength in your feet begin! 👣

Reasons to do strength training.…………….

To save on your heating bill this winter 😉👊💪
A new and exciting discovery for me to be thrown into the mix! @ultimatesandbag training, and it is awesomeness on overload. It’s been around for ages, but I’ve just started to discover it. Time to get stuck in. My lovely friend Daisy (amazing PT and nutritionalist) and I have decided to look a bit deeper into this fitness experience, which we are already passionate about and hungry to learn more………Functional training, real life strength for real life experiences. And even though we are only a few workouts in, we are literally LOVING IT!! Can’t wait for the next session. Although we do realise we have SO much to learn still, we know this is going to be life changing for us, especially for the way we train our bodies and our clients to get fit for living.

We thought we would document the journey every now and then to see how this shapes the way we move and train. So watch this space……

I discovered this through @larisalotz who is super inspiring!! So much strength, stability and mobility. Wow this lady is good! This way of moving is definitely something we all need more of in our lives! Absolutely awesome 👊

This guy always amazes me, is a total inspiration and makes me so proud. My husband, Vaughan. At 47 years old, with minimal training, he made the @thewargravetriathlon look like a breeze! Why?? Because he take his health and fitness seriously all of the time! Imagine what you could achieve in the sprint tri with a bit more training @vaughanwickins you are awesome 👊❤️👊

I was asking myself the question, why does he find all this fairly easy to drop into with little training? Well, the answer is that He is such an adventurer, always enjoying different ways to get active, get outside, keep fit and strong. He is always getting my family out on yet another activity, to the point that sometimes my children and I roll our eyes at another suggestion of getting out on our bikes and going for a family ride. But once we do.....it’s brilliant fun!! He is driving us all the time to keep active. That, and the fact that he is one of my biggest supporters of VFiiT early morning sessions. Never missed a session 👊💥👊

Apart from sharing how awesome I think he is, and a total inspiration for me, this is really just another reminder that we all need to stay fit, strong and healthy ALL of the time. Let’s age well. Let’s get FiiT for living!! Enjoying all we do and getting out there for as long as possible with health and strength and energy!

Give me a shout if you want more info on my online sessions. 💪
Just a few of the benefits of massage:

• reduce stress
• increase relaxation
• reduce pain and muscular soreness
• reduce tension
• improve circulation
• improve energy and alertness
• decrease blood pressure and heart rate
• enhance immune response
• and much more........

How does massage help stress?.....Stress and worry can be eased by the relaxation that comes with receiving a massage. One is the sympathetic nervous system, responsible for the "fight-or-flight" reaction in times of stress, and the other is the parasympathetic system, which is responsible for the regular and day-to-day activities leading to relaxation and rest.

Researchers published an article in The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry that suggests a massage can reduce anxiety by increasing parasympathetic response.

Stress hormone cortisol may be reduced by getting a massage, and the neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine can be increased, which are known to help regulate your mood. For people who suffer from sleeplessness due to menopause or congestive heart failure, massage treatment can help.

So keep calm and get a massage 💆‍♀️

“Vic is a true inspiration- I have been training 3 times a week on her online sessions and her enthusiasm and varied workouts have kept me motivated for over 3 years. It has seen my body shape transform and made me fitter at the age of 51 than I was at the age of 30.” JJ. Ex rugby player!”

“Victoria is an amazing personal trainer who brings fun and humour to all of her workouts. She knows her stuff when it comes to posture, alignment and form in every exercise she teaches. I have seen results in just a few weeks after joining her morning group sessions but I have also had the privilege of seeing her teaching 1-2-1 and I am so impressed with her dedication to each of her clients. I would recommend V.FiiT to anyone wanting to build strength, get fit or lose weight!”
